Over a science lesson, the girls and I were discussing how much is yet to be discovered in God’s vast oceans.
Annie raised the question of mermaids. “My friend said she saw on the News that there was a mermaid that was orange. And if it sat in one place for a long time, it would get bigger and bigger and bigger and then POP!”
We all laughed of course.
“I don’t think we have to worry about exploding mermaids because mermaids aren’t real,” I said.
That was when I discovered that perhaps my youngest daughter may in fact believe in mermaids. And vehemently so.
There was a moment of silence as Annie glared at me, then declared, “I’m telling Ariel!!”
