On the lunch menu yesterday were baby cucumbers (an item that Katie picked out herself at the grocery store, even though we normally eat the regular, bigger cucumbers.)
Katie took a bite and made a face. “I think I like the bigger ones better.” Annie agreed (though she doesn’t care for cucumbers at all anyway).
“Okay, FINE,” I replied, adding a mock protest, “No more baby cukes! No more baby cukes!”
Annie laughs, runs over to me, turns around, bends over—and pretends to let it rip.
Um, thank you?
Then it dawned on me.
“Did you think I said toots? I said baby CUKES, not toots.”
Yep, just another ordinary meal at the Kalling household.
